Hard on the Heels of…

If I stood in front of a large stone column, declared as a work of art, the text, the work describtion affiliated to it, may take on many roles, but it would propably be of a questioning or an answering character, or written in a narrative style, poetic, purposely speaking of something totally different,
creating confusion and so on.

Does it need to describe what we should see, to support and lead our observation?
(the creator making sure the work is understood the way it´s supposed to be but thereby disempowering the observer)
Does it need to describe the craft behind it, to explain how it was produced?
(possible revelation of input of time and/or monetary value)
Does it need a (art) historic reference?
( upgrade of the work by refering to a representative body, the used reference becomes the main focus)

The exhibtion deals with…
